SOLD - 1967 Schwinn Stingray Custom Lowrider

It's safe to say that this bike is pretty gangster. The buyer, Corey Roth (pictured), reserved the bike almost as soon as I found it. Corey is rebuilding a 1967 Mercury Cougar hot rod and wanted a lowrider to match his car.

The previous owner had allowed his grandkids to go nuts on the bike with two cans of spray paint: metallic green and orange construction marking paint. I took it down to bare metal and repainted in satin black paint to match Corey's car.  

Then I went nuts ordering parts from a lowrider shop in L.A. New parts include springer forks, fenders, seat, tires, and skull valve caps.  Everthing else is orginal and cleaned up nicely. As you can tell from the pictures, this thing rides dangerously low. There is a bit of a learning curve when you first hop on but once you get accustomed to it, it is really fun to cruise on.

SOLD - 1982 Schwinn Caliente Custom Single Speed

This is my favorite bike that I've done so far. Tons of new stuff: paint, straight bars, fenders, rims, tires, single speed freewheel hub, brake, and seat.

The buyer, Brian Flinchbaugh, was involved in the conception of this bike and he earned status as the patron Saint of Patience as the bike went through several evolutionary changes.

More specs: 60cm steel frame, 27" rims, Origin 8 seat and bars.

My friend Lee is a bike messenger in Cleveland. Over dinner last week he told me about a great bike he had found, this Univega Nuovo Touring cycle, and promised to send pictures. It seems to be from the early 80s. Mint condition. I like understated bikes like this. Well built, simple, not too flashy.

While enjoying a few afternoon libations at Bodega's in Columbus Ohio's Short North district, I kept noticing this bike zipping up and down High Street. I eventually caught up with the bike, and it's owner, Pelham. Pelham has put a lot of TLC in to this rebuilt machine. He started with a vintage Raleigh frame, built in the original Nottingham factory. He borrowed the fenders from another old bike, and added a brown leather Brook's saddle and matching hand grips. The track bars and headlight add a distinguished touch to the front end. Pelham had the frame powder coated and to protect the finish, he fashioned elk skin washers to provide a buffer between the hardware and the fresh paint. That is dedication, my friends. This is Ian. We met him at this year's Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Ian rode his vintage Schwinn single speed all the way from Michigan. As the festival wrapped up on Sunday, Ian looked for a little help in getting back home.
